What Is an ECG?

What Is a 2D Echo?
A 2D echocardiogram uses ultrasound to evaluate the structure and function of the heart. It can provide information about heart chambers, valves and cardiac function.
What Is Holter Monitoring?
Holter monitoring records the heart rhythm over an extended period. It may help investigate intermittent symptoms that are not captured during a standard ECG.
What Is Preventive Cardiology?
Preventive cardiology focuses on identifying cardiovascular risk factors and helping patients understand appropriate measures to reduce future cardiovascular risk.
What Are Common Cardiovascular Risk Factors?
Risk factors may include: high blood pressure, diabetes, abnormal cholesterol, smoking, excess weight, physical inactivity, family history, existing cardiovascular disease, and other individual medical factors. Risk assessment should be personalised.
Can Heart Disease Have No Symptoms?
Some cardiovascular conditions may produce few or no obvious symptoms, while others cause clear symptoms. The absence of symptoms does not automatically establish that a person has no cardiovascular risk.

What Is a Pacemaker?
A pacemaker is a device used in selected patients when the heart's rhythm is too slow or when specific rhythm-related problems require device therapy. The need for a pacemaker depends on the underlying rhythm condition and clinical assessment.
What Is CRT?
CRT stands for cardiac resynchronization therapy. It is a device-based treatment used in selected patients with particular cardiac conditions. Suitability requires specialist evaluation.

What Should I Bring?
If available, bring: previous ECG reports, echo reports, blood-test results, previous scan or imaging reports, current medication list, previous prescriptions, and relevant hospital records. Also note when symptoms occur and what makes them better or worse.
Questions to Ask
Patients may wish to ask: What could be causing my symptoms? What tests do I need? What do my results mean? Do I need treatment? What are my options and alternatives? What are the benefits and risks? What follow-up will I need?
When Is It an Emergency?
New, severe, persistent or concerning chest pain can require urgent medical assessment, particularly with severe breathlessness, fainting, sweating or other concerning changes. Do not wait for a routine appointment when symptoms may represent a medical emergency.

Prof. Dr. K. J. REDDY is a highly experienced and respected cardiologist with extensive expertise in interventional and structural heart procedures. With decades of academic and clinical experience, he is committed to delivering patient-centered, evidence-based cardiac care.
He completed his MBBS and MD from prestigious Osmania medical college Hyderabad and obtained his DM in cardiology from Nizam’s Institute of medical science(NIMS).
To further advance his interventional skills, he trained at Narayana Hrudayalaya – Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences, Kolkata, gaining extensive experience in advanced cardiac procedures.
